The purpose of my work is to find peace, calm, tranquility and beauty through nature.

The world is a noisy, troublesome and often unsettling place.

I seek ways to calm my inner stress through painting the natural landscape around me.

By capturing the essence of the places I relax in I can escape the turmoil in my head.

Julia draws her inspiration from the local landscape around her. She paints scenes in oil or acrylic captured whilst walking her dog locally and further afield. Being particularly inspired by the energy of trees she reflects this in her work.

Julia’s love of art began in her twenties when she took up pen and ink drawing after receiving a set of pens as a gift. She was drawn to architecture as her subject matter and undertook a number of commissions at that time.

Julia began painting in 2020. In the autumn of 2021 she decided to focus her energies on her art leaving her office job to concentrate full time on her creative journey.
